Explore body peace with creative art journaling.
I'm Kathy Kimbrough, an anti-diet dietitian who helps people like you dismantle diet culture and find a calm relationship with food.
Art journaling has become an important outlet for me to explore body image and fight perfectionism, and I'm really excited to share it with you.
I didn’t go to art school and I didn’t consider myself a “real” artist for most of my life. I find beauty and self understanding in the messy, unintentional, imperfect medium of paint, pen and collage.
I believe art journaling, body trust, and self acceptance are made for each other. If you don't think you're an artist, or if you want to challenge perfectionism in your life, these workshops are for you.

Beautiful Mess: A Zine Workshop for Moms
Motherhood can feel messy. Not just the toys on the floor or the endless laundry, but the pressure to do everything “right.”
This workshop is an invitation to set perfection aside for a while and create something imperfect on purpose.
📅 Saturday May 2. 2026
⏰ 1-5 PM
📍The Montessori Tree, Austin, TX
🐣 Early bird price: $90 (available to the first 5 signups)
💲 Investment: $120-160 (sliding scale)
In this relaxed, creative gathering we’ll make simple handmade zines using collage, writing prompts, and playful art supplies. No art experience is needed.
This is about curiosity, creativity, and connecting with other moms.
You’ll leave with your own handmade zine — a tiny, imperfect book that captures a piece of your story. And maybe something else too:
A reminder that you’re creative, and that something imperfect can still be something you love.
This workshop is intentionally small (10–12 participants) to keep the space relaxed, creative, and connected.
If your inner dialogue sounds like this, these workshops are perfect for you!
I don’t even know what I like to do anymore… (I’ve spent so long focused on food/how I look.)
I used to be creative, but I don't have time for that.
I want to express myself, but I feel too self-conscious, even just being in my body.
If it’s not going to look good, what’s the point? (If I'm not going to look/be good, what's the point?
I can’t relax (I’m either thinking about my body or everything I should be doing instead)
I feel disconnected from myself… (especially from my body.)
I want to feel more at home with myself, but I don’t know how.
I know something needs to change, I just don’t know where to start—and I’m tired of doing it alone.
I wish my body image was better but I don't know what to do or how to fix it.

Using art journaling prompts, guided meditation courtesy of Reset Yoga Nidra, reflection, and optional group sharing, we’ll explore themes of safety, identity, expression, and self-trust through the lens of the seven chakras. No art experience is required — curiosity and willingness are enough.
